Why is it worthwhile?

The learning process is variable and dynamic — it takes place in the interaction between the supervised person and the supervisor. Supervision processes address issues related to experiences, emotions, and work. The supervisor also seeks to find different perspectives on matters important to the person being supervised.

Benefits of Supervision

Supervision broadens awareness, improves skills, develops personal competencies, and supports the development of more effective working methods.
Tracing the course of one’s own activities and obtaining feedback
Understanding one’s own and clients’ reactions
Seeing one’s limitations as a professional
Consulting the techniques and strategies used during sessions and other activities
Working through difficult emotional states and tensions related to working with clients and one’s own professional role
